Scottish Dancing Party, wall painting in Castle Loevestein, 18th century A Scottish detachment was stationed at Loevestein castle between 1750 and 1754, led by Major General Alexander Marjoriebanks. One of them made these paintings, which were rediscovered in 1983 during restoration work. Loevestein Castle is a medieval castle in the municipality of Zaltbommel, Gelderland, the Netherlands. Notes from Peter MacDonald: All three males are show wearing a feileadh beag, at least two wear tartan coats and look to have brass cantled sporrans worn high on the outside of their coats.
