Highland Fete at Balmoral, 1859, Egron Lundgren, A watercolour view of a group of people engaged in Highland dancing, watched by onlookers. On 22 September 1859 a fête was held at Balmoral by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Games were held, for which the Queen gave out prizes, and were followed by dancing. Victoria recorded in her journal entry for that day that they were 'much pleased at all having gone off so well'.
